During the golden-age of the Ura-harajuku movement, it was completely normal to have people lined up outside stores waiting for new product from a popular brand to hit the shelves. It was the period that gave birth to the fashion genre “Urahara-kei” (Urahara style) and was also the backdrop for Kiko beginning her career as a designer. Starting in 2001 Kiko spent seven years as designer for BAPE’s women’s line BAPY before getting married, having babies, raising children and, once child-rearing obligations had settled down, launching Bluebird Boulevard in 2014.
